Tutorial 3 Digitally Enhancing Photo

Digitally Enhancing Photos:

Let the Sun Shine In
Here’s an example of how you can turn a cloudy day into a sunny day, for an image with more impact.

I took the picture at left of several dancers at a festival in Bhutan. Due to the overcast sky, the picture is flat. But let’s see what happens with a little Photoshop magic.

Go to Image> Adjustments>
Hue/Saturation
Hue changes the colors in the image.
Saturation adds intensity to the colors.
Lightness adds a white film to the image.

Go to Image>Adjustments>
Brightness/Contrast

Brightness changes the amount of light let into the image.
Contrast intensifies the difference in values.

Go to Image>Adjustments
Exposure
Exposure adjusts the brightness of the image.
Offset adds extra contrast to the darkest values.
Gamma Correction intensifies the shadows of an image.

Try This!Choose a photo online that could use some digital enhancement.  Save it as original.jpg.  When you finish editing the photo save it as corrected.jpg.

Save it to your disk.
